GP Plywood Facility
GP Plywood Facility

On Tuesday, August 9th, the faculty of Newberry County Career Center took a tour of the Georgia-Pacific lumber and plywood manufacturing facility just north of Mid-Carolina High School. Teachers were provided safety equipment and safety rules prior to the tour, which is very important for our students at the Career Center. Always think Safety! Teachers were separated into groups with plant foreman personnel leading each group and explaining each part of the operation as well as potential employment opportunities for Career Center completers. The tour was very interesting and informative. The Career Center has additional tours planned of area manufacturing during upcoming Professional Development days to acquire a better understanding of industry needs and to create connections with our business partners.  Thanks to Georgia-Pacific for a great tour!
